Ridley Wilderness Youth Program

As Canada becomes increasingly urbanized, many culturally diverse youth have limited access to experiencing and understanding Canadian wilderness. We believe in helping these future leaders make choices that support Canadian wilderness. Generously supported by the Estate of Norma R. Ridley, we provide students from across the Toronto District School Board with an immersive wilderness canoe tripping experience in Quetico Park.

Shan Walshe Memorial Bursary

In memory of the late Quetico Park Naturalist, Shan Walshe, The Quetico Foundation awards bursaries to select students from the Atikokan and Lac La Croix high schools. The students must demonstrate strong leadership and be accepted at a post-secondary institution for environmental, biological or related studies.

Lee Woods Memorial Award – Project Canoe

In memory of the late Lee Woods, former Chair of The Quetico Foundation and avid wilderness enthusiast, and supported by in memoriam donations from Lee’s friends and colleagues, an award is presented annually to Project Canoe for two students to participate in the Wilderness Canoe Program. Lee believed in the power of wilderness experience in overcoming barriers and fostering personal success within our youth.
