Quetico Foundation is pleased to announce Bjorn Van Der Loo the winner of the Shan Walshe Bursary.

Bjorn is an aspiring student who is pursing environmental sciences studies.

“For as long as I can remember my favorite place was always outside, usually poking something creepy or crawly, or maybe just watching it. I grew to love nature, and learned how parks protect it, and allow us to enjoy it in a way that’s safe for both us, and nature. I enjoy learning everything I can about the creatures we share our world with, and wish more people appreciated them the way they should,” explained Bjorn in his essay.

Every year, in memory of the late Quetico Park Naturalist, Shan Walshe, every year Quetico Foundation awards bursaries to select students from the Atikokan and Lac La Croix high schools.

The student must demonstrate strong leadership and be accepted at a post-secondary institution for environmental, biological or related studies.
